Website Chat Software Provider Click4Assistance are Proud to Support P.O.R.T

Website Chat Software Provider Click4Assistance are Proud to Support P.O.R.T

Pseudo Obstruction Research Trust (P.O.R.T) was formed in February 2006 by two families who have children that died from Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-obstruction (C.I.P.S.) or are still suffering from this illness. The charity’s mission is to fund research into C.I.P.S. and raise awareness both publically and professionally. Each year £50,000 needs to be raised in order to fund this research into this serious and sometimes fatal illness.

P.O.R.T and Click4Assistance

P.O.R.T is close to provider Click4Assistance’s heart, as one of the founding families is a very dear friend of Jill Stephens, one of our senior account managers. Jill commented:

“Considered a ‘rare’ condition, people suffering with CIPS were treated symptomatically and no research was done into the cause or a cure for the disease.  Having watched 3 of her own children suffer with this debilitating condition that no – one could explain, the final straw came for Sue when a close friend that she had made during her stays at the Royal London Hospital lost her 2 year old daughter to the illness. These 2 brave woman formed PORT initially in order to fund a research fellow, and have gone from strength to strength, developing an international database for medical staff to log and query symptoms, an education program for doctors and nurses to diagnose the condition more effectively and they have funded paediatric gastro intestinal beds and equipment for the Royal London hospital. They deserve to be congratulated and supported in their ongoing efforts.”

Fundraisers

Through past events hosted by and in aid of P.O.R.T, the website chat software provider, Click4Assistance has supported the charity. In March 2013, comedian and TV Star Sean Lock, who is the patron of P.O.R.T, hosted a comedy night with other well-known comedians including Micky Flanagan and Harry Hill performing to raise money.

The charity has previously held fundraisers at an Indian restaurant with an all you can eat buffet. On 15th June 2016 P.O.R.T held another all you can eat fundraiser at the Maharaja Indian Restaurant in Benfleet. Members of Click4Assistance and their friends and family attended the event. £1,612.20 was raised for the cause, the evening also included a raffle where Click4Assistance were lucky to have 2 of their numbers called.

P.O.R.T also holds an annual charity ball at a Country Club in Essex, providing an evening of a 3 course dinner, drinks and music, all in aid of raising money for research.

Click4Assistance are glad they were able to help P.O.R.T raise money once again for their cause and really enjoyed the evening, eating lots of Indian food!
